Brewfitt is pleased to announce that it has been shortlisted for The University of Huddersfield Innovation Award at The Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards.
The award category was open to any business engaged in the commercialisation of research and development of intellectual property, across all sectors. Brewfitt has a specific research and development function which focuses on developing new technologies to stay ahead of the competition and be seen as a key driver in the industry.
Its latest innovation is the combination of its core products CoolTube and 2Flow, which has been developed by Neil Paxman. Working together, one simple change of the coolant flow rate will change the temperature of a dispense product instantly. Installation is simple, with the smaller coolers allowing for substantial energy savings. No product coils are required in the primary cooler, creating greater efficiencies with greatly improved maintenance and breakdown procedures. With CoolTube and 2Flow no secondary cooler is required under the bar which creates more storage space and reduces energy consumption. Brewfitt sees this as the future of cooling within the drinks dispense market.
Curtis Paxman, Managing Director of Brewfitt commented: “We are delighted to have been nominated for The University of Huddersfield Innovation Award. At Brewfitt we invest a lot of time into the research and development of our products and work hard to ensure that we are continually at the fore front of the industry. To be shortlisted for this award is a great honour.”
Winners will receive their trophies and certificates at a gala awards night on Thursday, November 3, at the Galpharm Stadium. BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration will be hosting the gala event, which will also include a celebrity speaker.

The ‘green’ issue, in terms of sustainability and environmentally friendly products/services, is at the forefront of the political and public agenda. Therefore, bars up and down the country are increasingly looking at ways to improve their green credentials, particularly in making processes and products eco-friendly.
The leisure, hospitality and bar industries have quite an effect on the environment because they are such a large part of the British culture, with even the smallest of villages having at least one pub within walking distance.
Behind the bar, there are several new products and innovations on the market which can help to reduce energy consumption, whilst reducing capital costs at the same time.
For example, 2Flow is a coolant liquid designed to freeze at sub-zero temperatures. It replaces water and glycol in existing and ice bank beer and soft drinks coolers, providing ‘extra cold’ beverages without the need for purchasing extra equipment. It’s a stable, non-corrosive liquid which also saves energy costs as it has superior thermal properties so it can be as much as 20% more effective than other sub-zero cooling solutions. For the average pub running 2 coolers, they would save up to £226 per year on energy costs by using 2Flow.
Cooltube is a heat exchanger that is over 6 times smaller and lighter than standard heat exchangers which is compatible with any coolant medium and fits into confined spaces, including directly under the font. It provides maximum efficiency in a minimum space, resulting in energy efficiencies and a lower carbon footprint.
Other products that can help bars to become more environmentally friendly are cleaning products, such SteriBev and SteriEx solutions which have no COSHH or environmental impact.
In supporting bars that go the extra mile to reduce their carbon footprint, it’s a great way to encourage more businesses to find out how they can ‘go green’ too.

The clocks have gone forwards and we’ve seen the first signs of sunshine which means Summer is on its way!
This means outdoor events, weddings, garden parties, summer festivals and fetes for which organising the sale of beer and cider can sometimes be a problem. However, our Draught Beer Box can provide the perfect ‘pub quality’ chilled beverages, it’s easy to set up and it’s portable.
The Draught Beer Box is a compact, insulated box with a unique 30m stainless steel coil to superchill drinks to between 2ºC and 6 ºC. The box simply needs filling with ice and connecting to our Compressed Air System (CAS) and drinks are ready to pour within five minutes.
CAS is a gasless system which plugs into the mains electricity and attached to both the draught beer box and keg using the existing coupler and gas line. The system allows the safe dispense of draught products without the need for N² or CO² and has no industry regulatory requirements.

We are delighted to announce that we will be supplying Marco Pierre White’s Michelin star restaurant, The Swan Inn, based in Lancashire and exclusive hotel, The Tower, with the Aqua 3 water filtration and dispense system.
Aqua 3 connects directly to the mains water supply and uses a built-in filtration and purification system to eliminate odours, pollutants, particles and impurities. A high performance UV lamp then destroys potentially harmful micro-organisms, moulds and algae. Finally, a cooler-carbonator chills the water to a perfectly refreshing 5ºC, delivering a sparkling or still end product according to your requirements.
The Aqua 3 system comes with clear or frosted glass reusable bottles, which can be finished with a logo for added brand consistency. The reusable bottles mean that there is no need for expensive and time consuming glass/packaging disposal.
The Swan Inn is one of three Marco Pierre White restaurants in the UK and this initial installation offers us the opportunity to roll out Aqua 3 across all Marco Pierre White restaurants and hotels going forward.
Brewfitt’s Managing Director, Curtis Paxman said: “This is a great opportunity for Brewfitt; Marco Pierre White is a world famous, Michelin star chef, with an excellent reputation for supplying the highest quality food. The Aqua 3 system will be a great addition to the restaurant and hotel, providing the purest water for customers in stylish, branded bottles.”

James Whittaker, Sales Manager for Steripax
Following a successful 2010, we are delighted to announce that we have entered the cleaning and sanitising industry by launching Steripax, a new arm to the company which will be lead by the recently appointed Sales Manager, James Whittaker.
Steripax will sell two core sterilising solutions, SteriEx and SteriBev, which can be applied across a number of different business environments. SteriEx is used in the food production and preparation industries, whilst SteriBev is primarily used in the hospitality, beverage manufacturer and brewing industries. The sanitizer is one of the leading environmentally friendly products in the market as it has no special disposal requirements, is harmless to humans and can be recycled after use.
Speaking about his appointment, James Whittaker commented: “Steripax will be selling this revolutionary product which has been developed by Hypotech. As the main distributor for Hypotech’s products I saw the role of Sales Manager at Steripax as a great opportunity to use my experience in the cleaning and janitorial industry to develop this new side of the business. I will be responsible for attracting new customers and raising awareness of the Steripax brand. I am ready for the challenge and look forward to working with the Brewfitt team to expand the company further.”
Curtis Paxman, Managing Director of Brewfitt, said: “We are delighted to welcome James to the Brewfitt team, with his extensive experience of the sanitising industry we saw this as a great opportunity to launch Steripax and grow the business across new industries.”

We are delighted to report an increase in the number of outlets purchasing our bespoke bar solutions.
We can personalise the fonts by having a company’s logo etched or printed onto them and the option of various finishes, which adds to the overall interior design.
Many outlets are opting for such bespoke looks as part of their refurbishment schemes. The quieter period in January after the festive season proves a popular time of year for such outlets to carry out improvements.
Brewfitt’s Managing Director, Curtis Paxman said: “We believe that the industry is planning ahead and after a busy and successful Christmas period, many bars will then take advantage of the quieter period. The trend for bespoke dispense equipment shows that outlets are very much trying to create their own unique environments to attract customers.”

We are delighted to announce that we have a new distributor in Canada for 2Flow and 8Flow!
HiTech Dispensing are based in Ontario and will be concentrating on communicating the benefits of 2Flow and 8Flow in comparison with traditional water and glycol systems.
2Flow is a revolutionary new coolant liquid designed to freeze at sub-zero temperatures. It replaces water and glycol in existing ice bank beer and soft drinks coolers in order to reduce the temperatures at which drinks are dispensed at the bar, without the need for purchasing extra or enhanced capital equipment.
8Flow is a direct replacement for glycol with all the same benefits as 2Flow. It does not require service or replacement for up to 4 years and provides colder dispensed beer.
More and more large breweries and soft drink manufacturers around the world are switching over to using 2Flow and we hope that our partnership with HiTech Dispensing will go from strength to strength in bringing it to the Canadian market.
